In this blog I will share my experiences with food, travel, health, decor, and anything else I might find interesting. In the past 2 years I have taught myself how to cook and become rather good at it; however, I still prefer quick and simple recipes. I love seafood, vegetables and spices but since moving in with my boyfriend I’ve found myself cooking a lot more meats and starchy meals. I’ve learned to create a balance between starch and vegetables, keeping everything healthy (or as healthy as can be). Substituting with quinoa or spelt pasta, and never frying or breading anything. I try to exercise 3-4 times a week- I need to have a schedule to stay on track so I only take group workout class- currently I take Boot-Camp and do Hot Yoga.
In September 2012 I ran the half marathon. I was never a runner but I wanted to challenge myself physically and the marathon seemed like the perfect start. I trained for 3 months in the summer heat- the first month regretting having done this to myself, but my August I felt invigorated. My legs were getting stronger, my stamina was increasing, and for the first time in my life I could run for longer (much longer) than 5-10 minutes. Crossing the finish line in September felt fantastic. My timing wasn’t great but that wasn’t the point- I set a goal for myself and I didn’t quit. I had just accomplished running the half marathon!!
So far in my life I have had many fantastic travel experiences. I learned how to ski in the French Alps, studied art in Italy, and was Scuba certified in the Dominican Republic. I’ve been to 13 countries in Europe, 9 of which I had the chance to travel all around. I’ve been to the Bahamas/Caribbean over 30 times, and took a cruise through Alaska. I’ve been skydiving in Quebec and summer-skiing in Whistler. For the past two years I have traveled to China for work and have truly experienced what it’s like to be an outsider in a completely non-English country. I have been to Israel twice, most recently to do my Birthright tour, and I have been to 27 US states (plus Puerto Rico.) Three years ago I met my boyfriend in Turks and Caicos and 9 months later moved from New York City to Montreal.
I had an addiction to travel- seeing new places and experiencing new cultures (especially trying new foods.) I will share all of my future travel experiences with you here. Depending on my travel companions I will travel cheap, or luxurious, sharing my tips and best-visit spots.
In the next 12 months I am hoping to add Russia and Thailand to my new destinations.
